The World Snooker Championship at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre, which took place in April and May, was not only the location for the sports major annual event, but also a chance for the Theatre to launch its new Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) system, KCPOS.

Supplied by HBP Systems Ltd from Scunthorpe, KCPOS was installed at The Crucible in time for the start of World Championship and manages all transactions for the theatre’s bars and restaurants. The system was the perfect choice for The Crucible as it was able to provide full functionality for all standard bar and restaurant functions and also benefited from the latest developments from the KCPOS software, which includes table and interval drinks management.

The Snooker World Championship is the highlight of snooker’s annual calendar with the highest levels of prize money, world rankings points and prestige in comparison to all other snooker events. This of course attracts the best players from around the globe and, in turn, a huge amount of interest from snooker fans. This meant that The Crucible was sold out for every session of the tournament. With this sort of attendance the bars and restaurants were all extremely busy so the robustness and reliability of KCPOS was vital for the running of the event for the theatre’s hospitality team.

The software was also extremely beneficial to the accounts team at the theatre as all transactions were sent directly to their finance software, reducing the need for any order re-keying, saving a vast amount of time.

KCPOS has been a very successful product for HBP Systems Ltd in 2009 which has involved a number of new systems being installed across the UK. This, in part, has been down to the HBP Systems Group companies around the country, but also due to a new reseller network which has been setup and is now flourishing. KCPOS was developed by the Software Development Division of HBP and since 2008 has been re-sold to other IT dealers around the country. This has helped to install KCPOS into a number of new retailers, visitor and tourist attractions as well as bars and restaurants all over the UK and Ireland.

The development of this new dealer network, along with their own sales of KCPOS, have been the cornerstone of a successful year for HBP Systems Ltd. With the continued development of the product and a growing amount of dealers both in the UK and abroad this success looks set to continue.
